What is Internet over Cable and how does it work ?
It's a broadband service, you can get for your office or
home, which has a huge potential of delivering Internet
and other future applications like Video conferencing, Telephony,
Video on demand etc.. It uses a TV cable instead of phone
line at a relatively lower price as compared to other popular
types of access like ISDN or Dial-up connections. State-of-the-art
cable modem technology is used to provide high-speed data
transmission over the existing cable TV infrastructure.
Internet signals are sent in the RF range. The cable modem
at the user end converts this signal into digital form so
that the computer can understand this signal. It works in
very many similar manners as the modem used for dial up
connection.
